Massive Ganja Haul: Police Uncover a Cross-State Smuggling Operation

In a dramatic scene reminiscent of a crime thriller, the Rachakonda police seized a staggering 1,210 kilograms of ganja, worth a whopping Rs 6.25 crore in the illegal market. This significant bust, which took place on National Highway 65 in Abdullapurmet, has exposed a sophisticated interstate drug trafficking network.

The Special Operations Team (SOT) of the Maheshwaram Zone, in collaboration with the Abdullahpurmet police, intercepted a TATA Ultra truck, uncovering a clever concealment tactic. The ganja was hidden beneath cement bags, meticulously wrapped and covered, demonstrating the smugglers' attempt to evade law enforcement. This operation showcases the creativity and determination of criminals to transport illicit goods across state lines.

The investigation revealed a meticulously planned route, originating from the dense forests of Malkangiri in Odisha, passing through various towns, and eventually targeting Rajasthan as the final destination. The accused, Vikram Vishnoi, a 22-year-old driver from Jodhpur, was allegedly recruited by a trio of accomplices who offered him a substantial sum of Rs 5 lakh per consignment. The truck's journey began in Jaipur, where it picked up an initial load of iron materials, then proceeded to Nanded, Maharashtra, and Khammam, Telangana, before reaching the ganja's source in Malkangiri.

Commissioner G. Sudheer Babu, overseeing the operation, commended the team's efforts in disrupting this interstate drug chain. "We have successfully dismantled a well-organized smuggling operation, thanks to our officers' dedication and the intelligence-led approach," he stated. This incident highlights the ongoing battle against drug trafficking and the importance of inter-state cooperation in law enforcement. With the accused in custody and the narcotics seized, the police will now focus on unraveling the full extent of this criminal network.
