Hyderabad Gears Up for Peaceful Moharram Procession

Hyderabad City Police Commissioner C V Anand is leaving no stone unturned to ensure a peaceful and well-organised Moharram Bibi-ka-Alam procession, a significant event for the Shia Muslim community. In a proactive move, the Commissioner chaired a coordination meeting at the Salarjung Museum, bringing together various stakeholders, including Shia religious leaders, community members, and government officials. The gathering aimed to address community concerns and finalise arrangements for the upcoming Moharram events, which attract thousands of participants.

The meeting covered a wide range of topics, from security and traffic management to the well-being of participants and animals involved. Anand assured attendees that the police department is taking every precaution to maintain order and prevent any untoward incidents. This includes deploying crime teams, police platoons, and She Teams to handle potential issues like eve-teasing. The Commissioner's experience-driven approach was evident as he advised organisers to bring the traditional elephant a few days early to ensure its rest and emphasised maintaining a safe distance around it during the procession.

The Moharram procession, a significant mourning observance for Shia Muslims, is expected to take place on July 6 or 7, 2025, depending on the moon sighting. The route, spanning from Bibi-ka-Alam, Dabeerpura, to Masjid-e-Ilahi, Chaderghat, will be closely monitored by senior traffic officials and CCTV cameras, ensuring a smooth and secure event. This comprehensive planning demonstrates the city's commitment to facilitating peaceful religious observances while maintaining public order and safety.

As the city gears up for this significant procession, the Police Commissioner's dedication to addressing community concerns and ensuring a harmonious event is evident. With meticulous planning and inter-departmental coordination, Hyderabad is set to showcase its ability to respect and manage diverse religious traditions while maintaining public order.
