Andhra Pradesh's Pension Power: Doorstep Delivery and Welfare Initiatives

In a heartwarming display of government outreach, the NTR Bharosa social security programme brought much-needed relief to the elderly and underprivileged in Nellore and Prakasam districts. On Wednesday, Nellore's district collector, Himanshu Shukla, personally distributed pensions to beneficiaries, ensuring the funds reached those in need. Among the recipients was Sirivella Srinivas, a 62-year-old former electrician confined to his bed due to paralysis, who received a substantial sum of 15,000. Sharada, a 55-year-old single woman, also benefited from the scheme, collecting 4,000. The collector's visit wasn't merely transactional; he took the time to inquire about the beneficiaries' well-being, emphasizing the human connection in this welfare initiative.

The neighbouring Prakasam district echoed similar scenes of compassion and support. State Minister for Social Welfare, Dr Dola Sri Bala Veeranjaneya Swamy, joined the district collector, P. Rajababu, and MLA B.N. Vijay Kumar, in a tractor rally at Maddipadu mandal's Santanutalapadu constituency. Here, they distributed pensions directly to the residents of BC Colony, bringing a sense of joy and financial security to the community. The event also served as a platform to launch the 'Super GST Super Savings' campaign, aimed at educating citizens about the benefits of GST 2.0 and the latest tax reductions.

Dr Dola's address at the public meeting was a testament to the government's commitment. He proudly stated that Andhra Pradesh stands alone in its pension scale, disbursing a monthly amount of 2,700 crore, with individual pensions ranging from 4,000 to 15,000. The minister also highlighted other welfare initiatives, such as educational support of 15,000 per student under the Vandanam scheme and annual farmer assistance of 20,000 through Annadata Sukhibhava. Collector Rajababu and MLA Vijay Kumar echoed the government's people-centric approach, emphasizing the importance of the GST awareness campaign in helping citizens understand their savings on daily essentials.
