Mahila Samriddhi Yojana: Delhi Govt’s New Financial Aid Scheme for Women

On International Women’s Day 2025, the newly elected BJP government in Delhi introduced the Mahila Samriddhi Yojana, a financial assistance scheme for women from economically weaker sections. Under this initiative, eligible women will receive ₹2,500 per month, reinforcing the government’s electoral commitment to improving women’s economic stability. The scheme is designed for women aged 21 to 60 with an annual income of up to ₹3 lakh. To support this program, the government has allocated ₹5,100 crores in the budget, ensuring direct financial aid reaches those in need.

To facilitate applications, a dedicated online portal will be launched, enabling women to register easily. The government is working on making the process smooth and accessible, with further details on the application procedure to be announced soon. A special committee has been formed to oversee the scheme’s implementation, led by Chief Minister Rekha Gupta. The committee includes three key ministers—Kapil Mishra, Ashish Sood, and Pravesh Verma—who will define eligibility criteria and ensure the seamless execution of the program.

The Mahila Samriddhi Yojana represents a significant step towards gender equality and economic empowerment, providing financial support to women from disadvantaged backgrounds. In addition to this scheme, the Cabinet has approved the implementation of the Ayushman Bharat health insurance scheme in Delhi. The first session of the eighth Assembly also addressed 14 pending CAG reports, reflecting the government’s focus on governance and welfare initiatives.
