Lloydminster RCMP Bust: Seizing Drugs, Firearms, and Stolen Goods

A joint investigation by the RCMP Crime Reduction Team (CRT) and the Saskatchewan Enforcement Response Teams (SERT) has led to a significant seizure of illegal items and the arrest of two individuals in a cross-border operation. The CRT, based in Lloydminster, initiated the probe on August 8, targeting a man wanted on multiple warrants and suspected of drug trafficking in Neilburg, Saskatchewan.

On September 11, the CRT, alongside the Lloydminster RCMP's Saskatchewan Trafficking and Response Team (STRT), apprehended the suspect and an adult female companion outside a business on 13th Avenue in Wainwright, Alberta. The operation's success was not limited to these arrests; a search warrant executed on a vehicle in the business's parking lot uncovered a loaded 9mm carbine rifle, approximately two ounces of cocaine, and other drug-trafficking evidence.

The investigation's scope expanded to a rural residence in Neilburg, where a second search warrant was carried out with the assistance of various RCMP units. This operation yielded an impressive cache, including an SKS carbine rifle, thousands of rounds of ammunition, drug-trafficking evidence, and stolen property valued at over $100,000. The recovered stolen goods included off-road vehicles, such as ATVs, side-by-sides, and a snowmobile, as well as an SUV.

The operation culminated in the arrest of 32-year-old Brett Schnieder and 28-year-old Kendra Sylvestre, both from the RM of Manitou Lake, Saskatchewan. They face numerous charges related to drugs, firearms, and property. Staff Sgt. Kory Davidsen, acting senior investigative officer of SERT, emphasized the importance of cross-border collaboration, stating that the strategic positioning and expertise of the RCMP's SERT in Lloydminster effectively deter criminal activities that attempt to exploit the Saskatchewan-Alberta border.
