CM Revanth Reddy Questions KCR's Claim as 'Father of Telangana'

Chief Minister A. RevanthReddy on Sunday took issue with BRS leader Harish Rao's description of partypresident K. Chandrasekhar Rao (KCR) as the 'Father of Telangana.' Speaking ata public meeting in Station Ghanpur, after attending development programs,Revanth Reddy questioned how KCR could be compared to Mahatma Gandhi, theFather of the Nation. Harish Rao, KCR's nephew, had made the comment inresponse to Revanth Reddy's criticism of KCR in the Assembly the previous day.Harish Rao had also called Revanth Reddy the "father of filthylanguage."

In his rebuttal, RevanthReddy mocked Harish Rao’s remarks, pointing out that while Mahatma Gandhi liveda simple life and was the driving force behind the prohibition of liquor inGujarat, KCR had a vastly different lifestyle. “Will this ‘Father of Nation’(KCR) wake up without the smell of luxury?” Revanth Reddy asked. He also notedthe stark contrast between Gandhi’s work for Dalit upliftment and KCR’s opulentlifestyle, living in a sprawling farmhouse.

Revanth Reddy argued thatreal Telangana icons like the late Professor K. Jayashankar and Konda LaxmanBapuji, who fought for statehood without seeking power, could truly be calledthe 'Father of Telangana,' not KCR, who he accused of "looting the state."He further alleged that KCR, who inherited a prosperous state, had leftTelangana financially struggling.

On the state's financialsituation, Revanth Reddy revealed that Telangana's revenue had decreased, anddespite a Rs. 2.91 lakh crore budget for FY 2024-25, the state was expected toclose the fiscal year with a Rs. 70,000 crore shortfall.
