The event also marked the launch of a new berth, further expanding the port's capacity to accommodate larger vessels. This berth, constructed at a cost of Rs 400 crore, is equipped with advanced cargo handling equipment, including two new mobile harbor cranes. These additions are expected to significantly improve the port's operational efficiency and reduce vessel turnaround time.

Minister Sonowal's visit also included the laying of the foundation stone for a new cargo handling facility, which, upon completion, will further bolster the port's cargo handling capabilities. This project underscores the government's commitment to transforming Vizag Port into a world-class maritime hub, capable of competing with the best in the region.
