The operation began at approximately 7:40 p.m. when officers responded to a call on Farnum Drive. Officer Joshua Rivera's keen observation skills led him to locate the suspect vehicle at a gas station, a seemingly mundane stop that turned out to be a crucial juncture in the case. Inside the car, a female driver and two male passengers were found, one of whom, Joel Vazquez, was the subject of the initial complaint. The subsequent search revealed a cache of drugs, including a staggering 162 grams of crack cocaine, 46 strips of suboxone, and over 100 bags of heroin/fentanyl. The police also recovered a knife and more than $400 in cash from Vazquez, who has a prior drug distribution conviction in Hampden Superior Court. The other passenger, Manuel Gantt, was arrested due to outstanding warrants, including one from Connecticut, which required extradition.
