Hyderabad's Drug Bust: Nigerian National Deported

In a significant development, the Hyderabad Narcotic Enforcement Wing (H-NEW) has successfully apprehended and deported a Nigerian national, Onuorah Solomon Chibueze, who had been living illegally in the city for almost a decade and was allegedly involved in drug trafficking. This operation highlights the growing concern of foreign nationals overstaying their visas and engaging in illicit activities.

Chibueze, aged 46, entered India on a medical visa in August 2014, which expired the following month. Instead of returning home, he embarked on a journey that took him from Delhi to Bangalore and finally to Hyderabad in September 2024. His illegal stay in Hyderabad was not just a violation of immigration laws but also a cover for his alleged criminal activities. The H-NEW officers revealed that Chibueze procured marijuana from Pune and Mumbai and sold it in Hyderabad, operating from a rented house in Attapur. His passport had expired in January 2026, rendering his presence in India completely unauthorized.

The authorities' vigilance led to his arrest in the Tolichowki area, where he was found wandering suspiciously. During interrogation, Chibueze admitted to overstaying his visa, unable to produce any valid travel documents. The deportation process was swiftly initiated, with the Nigerian High Commission in New Delhi issuing an emergency travel document and the Foreigners Regional Registration Office (FRRO) providing an exit permit.

This incident serves as a stark reminder of the challenges posed by visa overstayers and the potential security threats they can bring. H-NEW's statement urges citizens to be vigilant and report any drug-related activities, emphasizing the importance of public cooperation in tackling this issue. As the authorities continue to monitor and address these concerns, the successful deportation of Chibueze marks a significant step in maintaining public order and national security.
