In a historic move, the Rajasthan Royals (RR) secured the services of 13-year-old batting sensation Vaibhav Suryavanshi for ₹1.1 crore during the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 auction, making him the youngest player ever to earn an IPL contract.

Born on March 27, 2011, in Bihar, Suryavanshi's cricketing journey has been nothing short of remarkable. At just 12 years and 284 days old, he made his first-class debut for Bihar in January 2024, becoming the youngest Indian to do so since 1986. His debut was marked by a stellar performance, scoring 71 runs off 42 balls against Baroda in the Vijay Hazare Trophy.

Rakesh Tiwari, President of the Bihar Cricket Association (BCA), has expressed immense confidence in Suryavanshi's potential. The Rajasthan Royals are optimistic about Suryavanshi's inclusion. During practice sessions, he has impressed with his power-hitting abilities, notably hitting a massive six off Akash Madhwal in a practice match. However, RR's coach has indicated that while Suryavanshi is a valuable addition, his participation in the playing XI will depend on team dynamics and his readiness for the big stage.
