India to Collaborate with France on Next-Gen Fighter Jet Engine

India intends to collaborate with France on the production of the latter's next-generation fighter jet engine. This decision has been recommended by India's Ministry of Defence (MoD) after reviewing proposals from French company Safran and Britain's Rolls-Royce.

India is currently seeking to renew its fighter aircraft fleet and believes that partnering with France on engine production could help the country establish domestically-produced fighter jets efficiently. France was deemed the preferred partner country after the MoD's review of the proposals submitted by both Safran and Rolls-Royce.

The deal is a significant one for both countries. France stands to gain from closer defence industry cooperation with India, which could potentially lead to further partnerships and military technical transfers. India, meanwhile, would almost certainly require partnership with a foreign country due to its limited capabilities in producing advanced fighter jet engines. It's a win-win deal that could strengthen defence ties between the two countries and see France play a crucial role in supporting India's planned modernization of its air forces.

With the MoD's recommendation on the partnership with France, the two countries will now proceed to negotiate and finalize the specifics of their defence collaboration on the next-generation fighter jet engine.
