The bustling city of Nellore is gearing up for a significant development as Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu prepares to inaugurate the Smart Street Bazar (SSB) during his visit on October 10th. This ambitious project, envisioned by Municipal Administration Minister Ponguru Narayana, promises to transform the Mypadugate Center into a hub of economic activity and innovation.
The SSB is not just a marketplace but a strategic initiative to empower women and modernize the city's infrastructure. With a total investment of Rs 8 crores, the government aims to establish 200 shops, each equipped with modern facilities, between Mypadugate Center and the Old Check Post. The project is well underway, with 120 shops already completed and the remaining in various stages of construction.
A key aspect of this venture is the focus on women's empowerment. The government has allocated 120 shops for Self-Help Group (SHG) women, offering them the opportunity to run various businesses. These women, selected based on their economic background, will receive substantial support, including bank loans of Rs 2 lakhs and an additional Rs 1.50 lakhs for shop setup, with Rs 50,000 for working capital. The shops will cater to diverse needs, ranging from food courts and provision stores to laundry and tailoring services.
Minister P Narayana's vision extends beyond the SSB, as he also plans to construct a rivetment along the Jaffer Sahen Canal to complement the new development. This project is not just about creating a marketplace but about revitalizing the city, enhancing its aesthetics, and providing a platform for economic growth, particularly for those in need. The SSB's inauguration is a significant step towards achieving these goals and is expected to set a precedent for similar developments in five other municipalities.
