Baton Rouge Drug Bust: A Multi-Parish Operation

In a significant joint operation, law enforcement agencies from East Baton Rouge and Livingston Parish, Louisiana, have arrested two individuals, seizing a substantial amount of drugs and firearms. The investigation, which began in September, culminated in the arrest of Reginald Weeden, 38, and Brandon Kenney, 57, on various drug-related charges.

The East Baton Rouge Sheriffs Office (EBRSO) initiated the probe after receiving information about Weeden's alleged marijuana distribution from a location on N. Foster Drive. Surveillance and a controlled purchase confirmed the illegal activity. The investigation further revealed Weeden's residence on Park Ridge Drive, leading to search warrants at multiple sites.

On Wednesday, a coordinated search operation was executed, with the Livingston Parish Sheriffs Office (LPSO) searching Weeden's residence and EBRSO covering other locations. The searches yielded a significant haul, including 16.8 grams of fentanyl, over 7 pounds of marijuana, THC wax, synthetic cannabinoids, MDMA, psilocybin mushrooms, amphetamine pills, firearms, and cash. The total value of the seized drugs is yet to be determined but is expected to be substantial.

Weeden's criminal history includes prior convictions for manslaughter, aggravated assault, negligent homicide, and illegal firearm possession. He admitted to possessing three pounds of marijuana at his Fern Drive home. Kenney, meanwhile, confessed that the marijuana found in his bedroom and shed was given to him by Weeden. The investigation highlights the successful collaboration between multiple law enforcement agencies, including the EBRSO K9 Division, SWAT, and the Livingston Parish Narcotics Division, in tackling drug-related crimes. This operation sends a strong message to drug dealers and demonstrates the commitment of Louisiana's law enforcement agencies to keeping the community safe.
