Smart Street Bazar: Empowering Women, Revitalizing Cities

In a move to empower women and transform urban spaces, the Smart Street Bazar (SSB) in Nellore is gearing up for its grand opening. This innovative project, the brainchild of Municipal Administration Minister Ponguru Narayana, has caught the attention of Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu, who is set to inaugurate the SSB during his visit to the district on October 10. With a total investment of Rs 8 crores, this ambitious initiative aims to provide economic opportunities and a vibrant marketplace for the city's residents.

The SSB, located at Mypadugate Center, will feature 200 shops equipped with modern facilities, catering to various needs. Of these, 120 shops are already completed, with the remaining under construction. Notably, 120 shops will be allocated to Self-Help Group (SHG) women, enabling them to run businesses ranging from food courts and provision stores to laundry and tailoring services. The project is a joint effort between the Municipal Administration and the Mission for Elimination of Poverty in Municipal Areas (MEPMA), with a focus on poverty alleviation and women's empowerment.

Minister Narayana's vision is coming to life, as the SSB promises to bring convenience and economic growth to the area. The government has invested Rs 6 crores in infrastructure, including solar panels to address power cuts and CC cameras for security. The Minister's commitment to the project is evident, as he stated, "We are constructing a rivetment along the Jaffer Sahen Canal to support the SSB's development." This project is not just about creating a marketplace but also about revitalizing the city's infrastructure.

As the SSB prepares for its inauguration, the excitement among beneficiaries like K Ramadevi is palpable. The project promises to enhance their livelihoods and contribute to the city's economic growth, marking a significant step towards a brighter future for Nellore's residents.
