Lucknow: The Uttar Pradesh Police Recruitment and
Promotion Board (UPPRPB) has announced the selection of 60,244 candidates for
police constable positions under Direct Recruitment-2023. The results were
released on the UPPRPB website on Thursday. Initially conducted on February 17
and 18 last year, the recruitment exam was cancelled due to allegations of a
paper leak, which also sparked political controversy during the general
elections. Following this, the state government implemented stringent security
measures when the exam was reconducted in August.
The recruitment drive drew an overwhelming
response, with 48,17,441 applicants vying for the 60,244 vacancies. Of the
selected candidates, 12,937 belong to the General category, 32,052 to Other
Backward Classes, 14,026 to Scheduled Castes, and 1,229 to Scheduled Tribes.
Among the recruits, 12,048 are women.
Mukesh Kumar from Rampur, one of the selected
candidates, expressed his gratitude. "This success brings immense joy to
my family and me this Holi," said Mukesh, who prepared for the exam over
several years while supporting his family as a daily wager. He credited his
achievement to his parents, teachers, and friends. Abhishek Mishra from
Shravasti also shared his happiness, thanking the government for releasing the
merit list before Holi. "We had been eagerly waiting, and this announcement
has made our celebrations even more special."
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath congratulated the
selected candidates, acknowledging their hard work and dedication. "Their
success is a testament to their talent, perseverance, and the blessings of
their teachers and parents," he remarked in a post on X.
