As the skies cleared over Hyderabad, a city-wide transformation was set in motion, with sanitation and road safety taking center stage. The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) Commissioner, RV Karnan, led a comprehensive review of the special drives, ensuring a cleaner and safer environment for residents. With a focus on efficiency, Karnan instructed Additional Commissioner Raghu Prasad and Zonal Commissioners to oversee the sanitation program, aiming to make a tangible difference in the city's cleanliness.

The sanitation drive, initiated on Monday, has already yielded impressive results. Sanitation teams, equipped with a fleet of vehicles, have collected a staggering 1,524.5 metric tonnes of municipal waste and removed 515.5 metric tonnes of construction debris from nearly a thousand colonies across 150 divisions. This operation, spanning the LB Nagar, Charminar, Khairtabad, Serilingampally, Kukatpally, and Secunderabad zones, is a testament to the city's commitment to waste management. The deployment of 335 vehicles for municipal waste and an additional 67 for construction waste showcases a well-coordinated effort.

Beyond waste management, the GHMC is addressing road safety concerns. Commissioner Karnan's directive to intensify road safety efforts has led to the repair of an impressive 13,738 potholes, with 366 fixed on Thursday alone. The engineering department's dedication to swift repairs ensures smoother and safer commutes for motorists, reducing the risk of accidents and traffic congestion. Additionally, the GHMC is engaged in repairing catch pits, replacing covers, and fixing central medians, leaving no stone unturned in their quest for a safer city.
