Trump Warns Tesla Attackers of 20 Years in Jail as Vandalism Surges

Donald Trump has issued a stern warning to individuals targeting Tesla, stating that those responsible for vandalizing the company’s properties could face up to twenty years in prison. His statement comes as attacks on Tesla showrooms, cars, and charging stations have surged following the appointment of CEO Elon Musk to lead the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE). This department, created under Trump's administration, is focused on reducing government spending, a move that has sparked significant controversy.

Tesla has been facing an increasing number of attacks, particularly in cities known for strong anti-Trump and anti-Musk sentiment. In recent weeks, multiple incidents have been reported across the United States, including the burning of Cybertrucks in Seattle, arson at charging stations near Boston, and gunfire at a Tesla dealership in Oregon. Protesters have also occupied Tesla showrooms, leading to arrests. While some demonstrations against Tesla have been peaceful, others have escalated into vandalism and destruction of property.

The shift in political sentiment towards Tesla has been significant. Once widely supported by liberals, the company benefited from federal loans during the Obama administration, which helped establish its dominance in the electric vehicle market. However, Musk’s recent alignment with the political right, his acquisition of Twitter (now X), and his decision to roll back content moderation policies that previously angered conservatives have caused a divide. Additionally, his substantial financial support for Trump’s 2024 presidential campaign, reportedly amounting to $250 million, has further alienated some of Tesla’s original supporters.

Following Trump’s return to the White House, Tesla's stock initially surged but later lost those gains, reflecting uncertainty around the company’s future. Although Trump has been critical of electric vehicles in the past, he has shown public support for Tesla, even purchasing a Model S. The White House has stood by Musk amid these rising attacks, with Attorney General Pam Bondi vowing to prosecute those involved in what she called "domestic terrorism against Tesla properties."

Musk has spoken out against the attacks, claiming that left-wing billionaires and organizations are behind some of the vandalism. While progressive groups like Indivisible have organized anti-Musk protests, they have denied any involvement in violent acts, emphasizing their commitment to peaceful demonstrations. Amid the growing tension, Trump’s administration has made it clear that any attempt to sabotage Tesla will be met with severe legal consequences.
