The bustling city of Nellore is gearing up for a significant development as Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu prepares to inaugurate the Smart Street Bazar (SSB) during his visit on October 10th. This innovative project, envisioned by Municipal Administration Minister Ponguru Narayana, aims to empower women economically and transform the vibrant Mypadugate Center into a hub of entrepreneurial activity.
The SSB is a joint initiative of the Municipal Administration and the Mission for Elimination of Poverty in Municipal Areas (MEPMA), with a substantial investment of Rs 8 crores. The project involves establishing 200 shops equipped with modern facilities, stretching from Mypadugate Center to the Old Check Post. Currently, 120 shops are ready, with the remaining under construction. Notably, 120 shops will be allocated to Self-Help Group (SHG) women, enabling them to run various businesses.
Minister Narayana's vision is coming to fruition, as evident from his recent visit to the site, where he expressed satisfaction with the ongoing work. The government has allocated Rs 6 crores for infrastructure, including solar panels to address power cuts and CC cameras for security. Each beneficiary will receive a bank loan of Rs 2 lakhs, with additional funds for shop setup and working capital. The shops will cater to diverse needs, ranging from food courts and provision stores to laundry and tailoring services.
The SSB's impact extends beyond commerce, as it will also drive urban development. The government plans to construct a rivetment along the Jaffer Sahen Canal, adjacent to the SSB, further enhancing the area's aesthetics and functionality. This project promises to be a game-changer for Nellore, fostering economic growth and providing a platform for women entrepreneurs to thrive.
