Rajasthan's Anti-Drug Operation Nabs Pakistani Heroin

In a significant blow to cross-border narcotics trafficking, Rajasthan's Anti-Narcotics Task Force (ANTF) has intercepted a substantial heroin shipment, seizing 1.492 kilograms of the illicit substance. This operation, a collaborative effort with the Sriganganagar district police, has disrupted a smuggling network with potential international ramifications.

The street value of the confiscated heroin is estimated at a staggering Rs 7.5 crore, underscoring the magnitude of this successful interdiction. The operation, conducted in the Kesrisinghpur police station area, resulted in the arrest of two young men, Karanjot Singh and Prabhdeep Singh, both 19 and hailing from Tarn Taran in Punjab. The duo was apprehended near the Ghanjatiya railway crossing on Mirjewala Road, in possession of the high-value contraband.

ATS IG Vikas Kumar, overseeing the operation, commended the task force's vigilance and efficiency. He revealed that the investigation is ongoing, with the focus now on unraveling the supply chain and identifying the Pakistani smugglers involved. The consignment, according to preliminary findings, was handed over to the arrested individuals by unknown persons near the Kesrisinghpur bus stand, indicating a well-organized network.

This operation highlights the persistent efforts of Indian law enforcement agencies in combating drug trafficking, particularly the influx of narcotics from across the border. The ANTF's success in intercepting this shipment not only disrupts the immediate distribution but also provides crucial leads for further dismantling the smuggling infrastructure. The investigation's progress is eagerly awaited, as it promises to shed light on the intricate web of cross-border drug trafficking and the measures required to fortify national security against this pervasive threat.
