Mumbai Drug Money Laundering Ring Cracked: EAGLE's Major Haul

In a significant blow to drug trafficking and money laundering networks, Telangana's Elite Action Group for Drug Law Enforcement (EAGLE) has successfully apprehended a key figure in a sophisticated criminal operation. The recent arrest of Dargaram Rataji Prajapati in Mumbai marks a turning point in the ongoing battle against illegal drug financing.

The EAGLE Force has been relentless in its pursuit, leading to the detention of 25 individuals and the seizure of a staggering Rs 3.084 Crores in cash. This operation began with the capture of foreign nationals Onyeisi Esomchi Kenneth and Emmanuel Bediako, which opened a Pandora's box of illegal transactions. The subsequent arrests across Mumbai, Delhi, Rajasthan, and Goa have exposed a complex web of drug money laundering.

The latest development, the arrest of Dargaram, is a crucial piece in this puzzle. He was previously linked to a raid on Bharath Kumar Chaganlal & Company in Mumbai, where he had evaded capture. Investigations revealed that this firm was a front for channeling funds from Nigerian drug cartels through hawala networks. Dargaram's capture was a result of meticulous intelligence gathering and surveillance, as he had been living in hiding, constantly on the move, and leaving no digital footprint.

Inspector K. Praveen Kumar, leading the operation, stated that Dargaram's interrogation confirmed the involvement of multiple hawala offices in Mumbai, Ahmedabad, and New Delhi. The network's reach extended across India, with agents collecting drug-related hawala money from Nigerian nationals. This breakthrough not only highlights the success of the EAGLE Force but also underscores the need for continued vigilance and international cooperation in combating global drug trafficking and its financial underpinnings.
