In a significant blow to the illegal drug trade, Mumbai Police conducted a massive drug disposal operation, eliminating narcotics worth a staggering Rs 80.56 crore. This operation, which took place in the tranquil district of Raigad, marks the second large-scale narcotics disposal this year, demonstrating the city's unwavering commitment to eradicating the drug menace.
The Anti-Narcotics Cell (ANC) of the Mumbai Crime Branch led the charge, meticulously destroying 162 kg of various narcotics and 7,908 codeine-mixed bottles. The chosen site for this operation was a closed kiln facility of Mumbai Waste Management Limited in Taloja, ensuring a secure and controlled environment. Among the substances disposed of were substantial quantities of ganja, charas, cocaine, MD, heroin, and codeine-mixed bottles, all seized in cases registered under the vigilant ANC.
This recent drive, combined with the previous operation in May, has resulted in the remarkable elimination of 692 kg of narcotics and 12,341 codeine-mixed bottles, valued at approximately Rs 130.86 crore. The meticulous process was overseen by top police officials, including Commissioner of Police Deven Bharti and Joint Commissioners Lakhmi Gautam and Satyanarayan Choudhary, ensuring the safe and proper disposal of the drugs.
The Mumbai Police's relentless efforts in the war against drugs send a powerful message of deterrence to drug traffickers and dealers. With each successful operation, the city takes a significant step towards a safer, healthier community, free from the devastating impacts of illegal narcotics. The force's commitment to maintaining law and order and protecting the well-being of its citizens is evident in these comprehensive and well-coordinated actions.
