Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) secured their first victory of IPL 2025 with a commanding eight-wicket win over Rajasthan Royals (RR), thanks to Quinton de Kock's unbeaten knock of 97 runs off 61 balls. Chasing a modest target of 152, KKR comfortably reached 153/2 in just 17.3 overs. Moeen Ali and Ajinkya Rahane were the only two batters dismissed during the chase.

Earlier, KKR’s bowlers dominated the Rajasthan batting lineup, restricting them to 151/9 in 20 overs. Varun Chakravarthy (2/17) and Moeen Ali (2/23) used the pitch conditions effectively, getting the ball to turn sharply. Seamer Vaibhav Arora (2/33) also impressed with his variations, while pacer Harshit Rana contributed with two crucial wickets.

Rajasthan’s batting lineup struggled to build momentum, with wickets falling at regular intervals. Yashasvi Jaiswal (29 off 24) and stand-in captain Riyan Parag (25 off 15) failed to convert their starts into big scores. Dhruv Jurel was the top scorer for RR with 33 off 28 balls, but his efforts weren’t enough to push the team to a competitive total.

The match was held at the Baraspara Cricket Stadium in Guwahati, marking the venue’s first-ever IPL game. Both RR and KKR had lost their opening games—RR to Sunrisers Hyderabad and KKR to Royal Challengers Bengaluru—making this match crucial for both teams to get their first points on the board.

With this win, KKR has climbed up the points table, while RR remains at the bottom. Skipper Ajinkya Rahane will be relieved to have secured the team's first victory, while RR’s captain Riyan Parag will need to rethink strategies for their upcoming games.
