A tragic incident unfolded on Thursday as multiple coaches of the Dibrugarh Express (15904) derailed near Jhilahi Railway Station in Uttar Pradesh's Gonda district. The derailment occurred on the Gonda-Mankapur section, leaving at least two people dead and approximately 25 others injured.
Details of the Incident:The derailment, reported around 2:30 pm, involved around 12 coaches of the Chandigarh-Dibrugarh Express. The affected coaches, including air-conditioned compartments, suffered significant damage, with some overturning completely. Rescue operations promptly began, with railway officials and additional teams dispatched to the site from Gorakhpur and Gonda.
Response and Relief Efforts:Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath swiftly directed district authorities to expedite relief efforts. He emphasized immediate medical attention for the injured, ensuring they receive proper treatment. The Ministry of Railways issued helpline numbers for assistance, coordinating efforts to manage the aftermath of the tragedy.
Monitoring and Support:Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, informed about the incident, is closely monitoring the situation. The Government of Assam remains in contact with relevant authorities to provide necessary support and aid.
