Crackdown on Drug Trade: Rs 10 Crore Assets Seized

In a significant blow to drug trafficking in Uttar Pradesh, the Muzaffarnagar police have seized properties worth a staggering Rs 10 crore from a notorious drug trafficker, marking the beginning of 'Operation Savera'. This anti-narcotics campaign, led by DIG Police Abhishek Singh, aims to disrupt the illegal drug trade in the Saharanpur range, covering districts like Saharanpur, Muzaffarnagar, and Shamli.

The operation's first major success came with the arrest of Abdul Qadir, a resident of Jijaula village in Shamli, on August 19. Qadir, along with his accomplices, was found in possession of 1.15 kg of smack, a potent form of heroin. The subsequent investigation uncovered Qadir's extensive property portfolio, including houses, plots, and farmland across three districts. This led to a comprehensive report being filed under the relevant acts, including the Smugglers and Foreign Exchange Manipulators Act and the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act.

The authorities' swift action resulted in the confiscation of seven properties on October 15, 2025. DIG Singh emphasized the importance of this victory, stating that it sends a powerful message to drug traffickers. He assured the public that 'Operation Savera' will persist in its efforts to dismantle the illegal drug trade, not only by arresting criminals but also by stripping them of their ill-gotten assets.

The police's determination to combat drug trafficking is evident, and the public can expect further developments as the operation continues its crackdown on this illicit trade, ensuring that justice is served and public safety is prioritized.
