The streets of Southeast Delhi have witnessed a significant transformation over the past month, with a 20% dip in PCR calls related to street crimes. This remarkable achievement is attributed to the Delhi Police's dedicated efforts, particularly their recent operation, codenamed Aaghat 2.0.

On Wednesday, under the watchful eye of Joint Commissioner of Police Sanjay Jain, a large-scale operation was launched, involving over 600 police personnel. Led by Deputy Commissioner of Police Hemant Tiwari, the operation targeted organised crime, habitual offenders, and those dealing in illicit substances. The result? A total of 500 individuals were apprehended, sending a strong message to potential lawbreakers.

Approximately 130 individuals were arrested for various offences, including violations under the Arms Act, Delhi Excise Act, NDPS Act, and Public Gambling Act. The police also took preventive measures, detaining 360 individuals and seizing a substantial amount of illegal items, including weapons, liquor, and drugs. The crackdown on gambling dens was particularly successful, with a significant amount of money recovered.

Deputy Commissioner Tiwari's statement underscores the operation's impact: "We've intensified our efforts to ensure a safer environment for residents, especially during the festive season. By targeting crime-prone areas, we aim to prevent untoward incidents and disrupt the activities of organised criminal syndicates." This operation marks a significant step in Delhi Police's ongoing battle against crime, with plans to continue such initiatives monthly.
