Pawan Kalyan Balances Acting and Politics: Vows to Serve People While Honoring Film Commitments

Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister and Janasena Party chief, Pawan Kalyan, has reaffirmed his commitment to both politics and cinema. In a recent interview with Thanthi TV, he stated that while his primary ambition is to serve the people, he will continue acting to sustain his livelihood.

Pawan Kalyan’s Janasena Party, in alliance with the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), achieved a sweeping victory in the recent Andhra Pradesh elections. Despite his new administrative role, the actor-turned-politician emphasized that he will honor his prior commitments in the film industry.

“I took a lot of inspiration from Henry David Thoreau, yogis, or siddhars. You do something selflessly and work for the people—that's what I thought. I never amassed wealth, nor did I start any business, including film production. My only source of income is cinema. Because I have committed to films, I now have to do justice to them,” he remarked.

Addressing concerns about being labeled a ‘part-time politician’ or ‘part-time actor,’ Pawan Kalyan pointed out that many politicians run businesses alongside their political responsibilities. “A lot of leaders have their own businesses. If they can balance that and politics, so can I. You have to be a passionate actor and a passionate political leader for both to work. When I was acting, I was also learning about administration and studying public policy since the mid-90s. As long as I need money, I will continue acting, but without compromising on my administrative and political duties,” he explained.

Pawan Kalyan has multiple film projects lined up, including the much-anticipated OG, which marks his reunion with actor Abhimanyu Singh after Gabbar Singh. Despite his busy schedule, he remains dedicated to his role in governance.

His decision to continue acting while holding public office is expected to spark discussions, but his supporters see it as a testament to his ability to balance multiple roles effectively.
