KTR Slams Telangana CM Over Family Politics, Questions State Revenue Claims

Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) working president K.T. Rama Rao (KTR) has hit out at Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, accusing him of hypocrisy for objecting to his family being dragged into politics. Speaking in the Telangana Assembly on Thursday, KTR pointed out that the Chief Minister had previously targeted his family, including minor children, when he was in the Opposition.

“Wasn’t it the Chief Minister who used filthy language against our minor children? Now he feels bad when the same happens to him,” KTR remarked. He further advised Revanth Reddy to show patience, stating that such behavior was unbefitting of a Chief Minister.

Challenges Revenue Claims and Investments

KTR also took aim at the Telangana government’s revenue claims, questioning the contradiction between boasting about investments and stating that the state's revenue had dropped. “They claimed that investments flowed in like a flood at the World Economic Forum in Davos and that the state’s welfare measures were exceptional. Then why did the Chief Minister say the State’s revenue dropped by ₹71,000 crore?” he asked.

The BRS leader also demanded clarity on the massive infrastructure plans announced by the government. “The Chief Minister talks of tenders worth ₹20,000 crore for HMDA, ₹7,000 crore for GHMC, ₹14,000 crore for water works, ₹4,400 crore for Kodangal lift irrigation, and ₹5,000 crore for a 10-lane road in Future City. They talk of beautifying the Musi River with ₹1.5 lakh crore. Where are these funds coming from?” he questioned.

Criticism of Central Government’s Conditional Funding

KTR further criticized the Union Government, alleging that states that comply with the Centre’s directives receive more funds. “The Centre is giving conditional funds to states that obey it, while others are left behind. If we don’t fight for our rights, the Centre won’t listen to us. We must unite,” he said, extending his support to the Telangana government in securing fair funding.

As political tensions rise in Telangana, KTR’s remarks signal a growing rift between the BRS and the Congress-led state government, with both parties trading accusations over governance, finances, and political ethics.
