Telangana CM Revanth Reddy Denies Political Vendetta, Hits Back at BRS

Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has dismissed allegations of political vendetta, asserting that if his government were indulging in revenge politics, opposition leaders would be behind bars. Speaking in the Assembly on Thursday, he said, “If I had acted with vengeance, opposition leaders wouldn’t be sitting here and speaking freely. They would be in Chanchalguda or Cherlapally jail, just as I was imprisoned under the BRS rule.”

Revanth Reddy recalled his imprisonment when he was an MP, stating that he was jailed for 16 days over a drone case, despite the law only mandating a fine of ₹500. He alleged that the BRS government at the time abused its power to keep him in Cherlapally jail under harsh conditions, depriving him of sleep. “God punished those who were vengeful against me. God sent them to the hospital,” he remarked, in a veiled reference to former CM K. Chandrasekhar Rao (KCR).

Defends Government’s Performance, Slams BRS on Loan Waivers

The Chief Minister also took the opportunity to highlight his government’s achievements, particularly in waiving farm loans worth ₹26,000 crore in just six months. He contrasted this with the BRS government, which, he claimed, only waived ₹13,000 crore in its first term and delayed further waivers in its second term, causing interest on outstanding loans to rise by ₹8,500 crore.

Revanth Reddy also accused the previous government of redesigning irrigation projects to pocket commissions. He alleged that while KCR’s administration acquired land from the poor, it protected lands belonging to his relatives.

KTR Launches Strong Counterattack

In response, BRS leader K.T. Rama Rao (KTR) accused the Chief Minister of hypocrisy and incompetence. He criticized Revanth Reddy for dragging his family into political mudslinging and labeled him a “political liability,” citing Congress’s poor performance in elections where Revanth campaigned.

KTR further referred to the CM as “Rifle Reddy,” claiming that he had targeted Telangana’s interests, while praising KCR as the “father of the Telangana nation.” He also accused Revanth of sidelining veteran Congress leaders to secure his position.

As political tensions escalate in Telangana, the debate between Revanth Reddy and KTR signals an intense power struggle ahead of future elections.
