Massive Drug Bust in Perak: Uncovering a Dark Trade

In a significant blow to the illicit drug trade, Perak police have successfully apprehended two suspected drug traffickers and confiscated a substantial quantity of ganja and heroin. This operation, codenamed Ops Tapis, has shed light on the pervasive drug distribution network in the region.

The raids, conducted between October 13th and 15th, led to the seizure of 13.7kg of ganja, worth approximately RM37,700, from a house in Taman Damai, Simpang. The first suspect, a 34-year-old man, was arrested at the scene, with the subsequent capture of a 45-year-old accomplice in Kampung Pinang, Kamunting, where an additional 10.7g of ganja was found. Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Azlin Sadari, Perak's deputy police chief, revealed that the drugs were intended for distribution in northern Perak, indicating a well-established supply chain.

The operation's reach extended further, with the arrest of a 43-year-old man in Kampung Ara Payung, Batu Gajah, where heroin and methamphetamine were discovered. This individual's prior drug-related offenses highlight the persistent nature of the drug trade and the challenges faced by law enforcement.

Ops Tapis resulted in the detention of 413 suspects, including 53 alleged traffickers and 128 individuals for drug possession. This operation underscores the commitment of the Perak police to disrupt drug trafficking and safeguard the community. With the investigation ongoing, the police aim to dismantle these criminal networks and bring those responsible to justice, ensuring the safety and well-being of the public.
