Hyderabad Agency Reclaims Rs 110 Crore in Illegal Land Grab

In a bold move, the Hyderabad Disaster Response and Assets Protection Agency (HYDRAA) has successfully recovered 1.30 acres of government land, valued at a staggering Rs 110 crore, from illegal occupation in the heart of the city's Old City. This operation, conducted on Friday, October 17, has shed light on the persistent issue of land encroachment and the challenges faced by authorities in protecting public assets.

The HYDRAA team focused its efforts on the areas of Kulsumpura and Goshamahal, where illegal structures had been erected on valuable government land. The agency identified Ashok Singh as the individual responsible for this unauthorized occupation. Singh had constructed sheds and rented them to idol makers, taking advantage of the land's prime location. The Hyderabad collector, Harichandana, sought HYDRAA's intervention to address this issue, emphasizing the need to secure the land for public welfare projects, especially housing for the less fortunate.

The operation was not without challenges. Singh attempted to halt the demolition by seeking legal intervention from the City Civil Court. However, the court's ruling favored the Telangana government, demonstrating the state's commitment to upholding the law. Despite this legal setback, Singh defiantly refused to vacate the premises, leading to a confrontation with officials during the demolition process. Singh's history of encroachment is well-documented, with multiple cases registered against him in various police stations across Langerhouz, Mangalhat, and Shahinayathgunj.

This successful recovery by HYDRAA not only restores valuable land to the government's possession but also sends a strong message about the consequences of illegal land occupation. As the city continues to develop, the efficient management of public land and the protection of citizens' rights remain crucial aspects of urban governance.
