Hyderabad Teen's Arrest Uncovers Rs 1.15 Crore Hashish Oil Trafficking

In a significant drug bust, a 17-year-old boy from Andhra Pradesh was apprehended at the Ghatkesar railway station in Hyderabad, carrying a staggering Rs 1.15 crore worth of Hashish oil. This incident highlights the alarming rise of narcotics trafficking and the involvement of minors in this dangerous trade.

The Special Operations Team (SOT) of Malkajgiri, collaborating with the Ghatkesar Police, intercepted the juvenile on October 17, seizing 5.1 kg of the illicit substance. The oil, packed discreetly in polythene covers inside a backpack, was destined for distribution in Hyderabad and its vicinity, promising quick profits for the suppliers.

Investigations revealed the intricate workings of the trafficking racket. The main supplier, Debendra Jhodia, sourced the Hashish oil from Chitrakonda, Odisha, and recruited the juvenile, assuming his minor status would arouse less suspicion. This strategy, however, proved unsuccessful, as the authorities, acting on a tip-off, swiftly arrested the young peddler.

The health risks associated with Hashish oil are severe, including sensory distortions, increased accident risks, cardiovascular issues, and long-term central nervous system damage. The Rachakonda Police have issued a stern warning, emphasizing the legal consequences of narcotics-related activities, which can result in up to 10 years' imprisonment or even the death penalty under the NDPS Act. As the search for the fugitive supplier continues, this case serves as a stark reminder of the pervasive nature of drug trafficking and the urgent need for public awareness and vigilance.
