Norridgewock Drug Bust: Two Arrested, Large Haul Seized

In a coordinated early morning operation, law enforcement officials in Norridgewock, Maine, dealt a significant blow to local drug trafficking. A drug search warrant executed at a Clark Street residence on Wednesday resulted in two arrests and the seizure of a substantial quantity of illegal substances and paraphernalia.

The Somerset County Sheriff's Office, accompanied by a team of eight law enforcement officers, including detectives and patrol deputies, conducted the raid at 6:27 a.m. This operation culminated a month-long investigation into illegal drug sales at the residence of Kirsten Libby, 37, a resident of Norridgewock. The search yielded a cache of cocaine, fentanyl, drug paraphernalia, documentation, digital scales, and packaging materials.

Both Libby and Ty Peters, 28, of Fairfield, were arrested on aggravated trafficking charges, Class A felonies. The charges were elevated due to the substantial quantity of drugs recovered, the proximity of the residence to Norridgewock Central Grade School, and the defendants' prior criminal records. Libby was on probation for a non-drug-related offense in Florida, while Peters was out on bail for a separate drug trafficking charge.

The defendants are now detained without bail at the Somerset County Correctional Facility, pending their court appearance on December 3rd. This operation underscores the commitment of local law enforcement to combat drug trafficking and protect the community, especially given the residence's proximity to a school, which could have posed a significant risk to the safety and well-being of local children. The Somerset County District Attorney's Office will review the case for potential additional charges, ensuring that justice is served and the community is safeguarded.
