Constable Stabbing: Fugitive Offender's Dramatic Capture

In a dramatic turn of events, a two-day manhunt for a fugitive offender, Sheikh Riyaz, ended on Sunday afternoon in Sarangapur, five kilometres from Nizamabad town. The wanted vehicle thief, who had allegedly stabbed a Nizamabad district police constable to death, was finally apprehended after a series of close encounters and a daring escape.

The pursuit began on Friday night when Riyaz, a habitual offender, allegedly stabbed Constable Pramod while being transported to the police station. In a swift and brutal attack, Riyaz, positioned between the constable and his cousin, pulled out a knife hidden in his footwear and stabbed Pramod in the chest. Sub-Inspector Vittal Rao, who was escorting them, intervened but was injured as Riyaz slashed his finger.

Riyaz then fled the scene, triggering an intensive search operation. On Saturday, the district police tracked his movements and located him riding a motorbike without a number plate. As the police closed in, Riyaz abandoned the bike and jumped into a nearby canal, evading capture despite warning shots fired by the officers.

The fugitive's luck ran out on Sunday when, in an ironic twist, he became the aggressor in a scuffle with a passer-by, Asif, near an industrial unit. The altercation caught the attention of the police, who were already on high alert. They swiftly intervened and finally apprehended Riyaz, bringing an end to his violent spree.

The dramatic capture brings temporary relief to the police and the public, but it also raises questions about the handling of dangerous offenders and the potential risks to law enforcement officers. As the investigation unfolds, the focus will shift to understanding Riyaz's motives and ensuring that justice is served for the tragic loss of Constable Pramod.
