Mayawati Raises Alarm Over Alleged Foreign Interference in Indian Elections

Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) chief Mayawati has expressed serious concerns over alleged foreign interference in Indian elections, citing reports that a US agency allocated $21 million under the pretext of boosting voter participation in India. She urged citizens to remain vigilant and question whether such funds influence the electoral process and who ultimately benefits from them.

"The news from America is quite shocking as a massive amount of $21 million has reportedly been provided for increasing voter participation in India. The people of the country must remain cautious and question whether this is an interference in free and fair elections," Mayawati stated in a press release.

Her statement followed an announcement by the US Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), led by billionaire Elon Musk, regarding the cancellation of several taxpayer-funded programs. Among them was the $21 million allocation for “voter turnout in India,” which raised eyebrows in Indian political circles.

BSP's Performance in Delhi Elections

Mayawati also addressed the BSP’s poor performance in the recent Delhi Assembly elections, where the party failed to secure a single seat. She blamed the dominance of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), alleging that government-backed political maneuvering had put her party at a disadvantage.

"BSP members fought with full strength in Delhi, just as they did in Haryana. However, due to the strong political maneuvering and deceptive promises of the opposing parties, as well as the overwhelming dominance of BJP and AAP under government protection, BSP could not achieve the expected results," she said.

Despite the setback, Mayawati encouraged her party workers to stay committed and not lose hope. She reiterated that BSP remains dedicated to the principles of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar and has historically achieved significant political milestones through perseverance.

BSP’s Legacy and Future Goals

Mayawati highlighted the party’s long-standing struggle for the rights and dignity of the Bahujan community. She pointed to BSP’s governance in Uttar Pradesh, where it worked extensively for the economic empowerment and self-respect of marginalized groups.

She accused caste-based and capitalist forces of conspiring against the BSP, using political manipulation, financial coercion, and false propaganda to weaken the party. However, she emphasized that her party would continue to fight for its vision of social justice and empowerment.

Despite the disappointing election results, Mayawati reaffirmed her party’s determination to reclaim power through democratic means, urging BSP workers to remain steadfast in their commitment.
