Andhra Pradesh is set to enhance its healthcare infrastructure with the addition of seven new dialysis centres, a move that will significantly impact the lives of kidney patients across the state. This development, announced by Health Minister Satya Kumar Yadav, is part of the Pradhan Mantri National Dialysis Programme, bringing much-needed relief to those requiring regular dialysis treatments.

Currently, Andhra Pradesh operates 232 dialysis centres, with 173 of these run under the Public Private Partnership (PPP) model through the NTR Vaidya Seva Trust. The new centres will be strategically located in area hospitals and community health centres, ensuring improved accessibility for patients in remote areas. The selected locations include S. Kota in Vizianagaram district, Bhimavaram in West Godavari, Pileru in Chittoor, and CHCs in Seethampeta, Venkatagiri, Addanki, and Sunnipenta. Each centre will be equipped with advanced medical equipment worth approximately 75 lakh, enabling the treatment of 15 patients daily across three sessions.

Minister Yadav highlighted the importance of these new centres, stating they would eliminate the need for long-distance travel for many patients seeking dialysis. The S. Kota and Seethampeta centres are expected to become operational soon, with the remaining facilities to follow suit after tender processes are completed. The A.P. State Medical Infrastructure Development Corporation has been tasked with managing these procedures to ensure the swift establishment of these vital healthcare services.

This expansion reflects the government's commitment to investing in critical healthcare services, with 164 crore allocated for kidney patient care in the 2024-25 financial year. As these new centres become operational, they will undoubtedly improve the quality of life for countless individuals, demonstrating a practical approach to addressing pressing healthcare needs.
