The South Central Railway (SCR) has demonstrated its prowess in handling the festive travel rush, with a remarkable 47% increase in train operations compared to the previous year. Between September 21 and October 20, 2025, the SCR ran an impressive 1,010 trains, ensuring millions of passengers reached their destinations during the busy festival season.
General Manager Shri Sanjay Kumar Srivastava proudly announced these figures at a media briefing in Secunderabad, highlighting the railway's commitment to meeting the surge in demand. The SCR's proactive approach included adding 237 extra coaches to existing services and introducing temporary stops at strategic stations like Lingampalli, Hi-tech City, Charlapalli, and Malkajgiri, ensuring passengers could board and alight at convenient locations. This comprehensive strategy enabled the SCR to cater to the needs of over 4.8 crore travellers across the zone.
To maintain order and security during this busy period, the SCR implemented several measures. They established 26 holding areas to manage passenger flow, increased CCTV surveillance for enhanced monitoring, and deployed additional staff for security, maintenance, and crowd control. These steps ensured a safe and efficient travel experience for all passengers.
The General Manager's inspection of Secunderabad station further emphasized the SCR's dedication to passenger comfort and safety. By successfully managing the festive travel rush, the SCR has not only facilitated travel but also contributed to the overall festive spirit, allowing millions to celebrate with their loved ones. This achievement underscores the railway's vital role in connecting communities and supporting cultural traditions across the region.
