The Andhra Pradesh government is set to revolutionize kidney care with a significant expansion of dialysis facilities across the state. In a recent announcement, Health Minister Satya Kumar Yadav revealed plans to establish seven new dialysis centres, bringing the total count to an impressive 239. This strategic move aims to provide accessible and affordable treatment for patients suffering from kidney ailments, a critical step towards enhancing the state's healthcare infrastructure.
The minister's statement outlined the locations of these new centres, strategically distributed across various districts. S. Kota in Vizianagaram, Bhimavaram in West Godavari, Peeleru Area Hospital in Chittoor, Seethampeta in Parvathipuram Manyam, Venkatagiri in SPSR Nellore, Addanki in Bapatla, and Sunnipenta Community Health Centre in Nandyal will all receive a much-needed dialysis facility. Each centre will cater to 15 patients daily across three sessions, equipped with three dialysis units each, funded by the Pradhan Mantri National Dialysis Programme at a cost of 75 lakh.
Minister Yadav expressed optimism about the operational readiness of the S. Kota and Seethampeta hospitals, with maintenance managed through the PPP model. He has instructed the AP Medical Services and Infrastructure Development Corporation to initiate the tender process for setting up these new centres. The government's commitment to kidney patient care is evident, having allocated 164 crore in 2024-25, including 110 crore under the NTR Vaidya Seva Scheme and 54 crore through the Pradhan Mantri National Dialysis Programme.
This expansion reflects the government's dedication to improving healthcare access and outcomes, particularly for those with kidney diseases. With the addition of these new centres, Andhra Pradesh is poised to offer comprehensive dialysis services, ensuring that residents across the state can access critical treatment. This development is a significant step towards a healthier Andhra Pradesh.
