Telangana Industries Minister D Sridhar Babu has hit back at the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS), calling their promise to protect the University of Hyderabad (UoH) land if re-elected a “joke” and an act of “hypocrisy.” He emphasized that the Congress government has no intention of encroaching upon UoH land and assured that “not a single inch will be touched.”
Responding to ongoing protests and BRS’s strong criticism of the land auction near the university, Sridhar Babu accused the opposition of deliberately misleading students and manipulating public sentiment for political mileage. “BRS leaders are using students as pawns and spreading misinformation through doctored images and edited videos to stoke unrest online,” he said in a statement.
The minister condemned what he described as “deceitful tactics” and urged BRS to stop exploiting young minds for electoral gains. “BRS is not genuinely fighting for student interests, land protection, or environmental concerns. Their goal is to stall development and industrial progress in the state,” he added.
He defended Chief Minister Revanth Reddy’s focus on attracting investment and creating employment, asserting that the government’s development agenda remains on track. In contrast, he criticized BRS working president K. T. Rama Rao (KTR) for engaging in personal attacks against the CM and demanded that he retract his “baseless” remarks.
Clarifying the status of the controversial Kancha Gachibowli land, Sridhar Babu maintained that the property is not part of UoH's jurisdiction and reiterated that all actions taken by the government are within legal bounds.
As the political slugfest escalates, the Congress has attempted to reposition itself as pro-development and law-abiding, while dismissing BRS’s rhetoric as fear-mongering and opportunistic.
