Hyderabad's streets are witnessing an intensified battle against the illicit drug trade as law enforcement agencies strike hard. In a significant development, the Hyderabad Narcotics Enforcement Wing (H-NEW) and Tolichowki Police have apprehended two individuals, seizing a substantial quantity of MDMA, a popular party drug. The prime suspect, Mohd Imran, a 31-year-old driver from Bandlaguda Jagir, and his associate, Shaik Baseer Ahmed, 32, from Humayun Nagar, were taken into custody in a well-coordinated joint operation. The duo's arrest led to the recovery of 11 grams of MDMA, valued at a staggering Rs 1.77 lakh. The police also confiscated two mobile phones and a two-wheeler, believed to be instrumental in their drug distribution network.

Imran, a repeat offender, allegedly sourced the MDMA from a supplier in Bengaluru, who remains at large. He then distributed the drugs in Hyderabad with the help of Baseer, who acted as a sub-peddler. This operation reveals a sophisticated drug supply chain, with the accused utilizing modern communication tools and transportation to facilitate their illicit trade.

The H-NEW has urged citizens to be vigilant and report any suspicious activities, especially in light of the increasing drug abuse cases.
