In a high-voltage political move, former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister and YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) chief Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy visited Raptadu in Anantapur district, aiming to address a sensitive issue involving the alleged politically motivated murder of a local resident. The visit, which was expected to send a strong political message, quickly spiraled into chaos and controversy, raising questions about both security arrangements and political intentions.
Jagan’s visit was perceived by many as a strategic effort to reignite political sentiment and accuse the ruling Telugu Desam Party (TDP) of instigating violence. YSRCP leaders have attempted to portray the incident as a political killing, trying to capitalize on public emotion and turn it into a sympathy wave. Massive preparations were made for his arrival, including a helicopter landing, managed by senior party leader Thopudurthi Prakash Reddy.
However, the ruling TDP didn’t stay silent. Local MLA Paritala Sunitha responded sharply, accusing YSRCP of exploiting the incident for political gain. In her fiery speech, she warned Jagan against politicizing a sensitive situation and emphasized that TDP wouldn’t stoop to obstructive politics, even though they have the power to do so.
The situation took a turn for the worse when Jagan’s chopper landing site turned chaotic due to poor crowd control. Reports indicated that the helicopter's windshield was damaged, forcing a change in his return travel plans. The disorganized crowd and lack of safety measures not only embarrassed the YSRCP leadership but also led to criticism from the public and media.
To add to the fallout, Jagan’s comments during the press meet—particularly his threat to take action against the AP police—didn’t sit well with many. Instead of achieving political momentum, the visit ended up being a logistical failure and a missed opportunity for YSRCP, exposing gaps in both planning and message delivery.
