Nellore, a district in India, is on the cusp of an industrial transformation, with a series of developments set to revolutionize its economic landscape. The district is witnessing a surge in industrial activity, with the establishment of various companies and the proposed acquisition of a significant land area for industrial purposes.
The latest addition to this burgeoning industrial hub is Indosole Company Limited, which has set up its unit in Karedu village, and Viswasamudra Pvt Ltd., which is launching an Ethanol Plant in Eedagali Bit-2 village. These new ventures add to the existing industrial presence in the district, including Apachi Shoes in Tada, Sri City, and the Krishnapatnam Port. The district administration has ambitious plans to acquire a massive 4,800 acres of land for industrial development, with 515 acres already secured from farmers. This initiative, led by the government, aims to create a thriving economic zone, providing employment opportunities and improving infrastructure.
Historically, Nellore's industrial growth has been a tale of starts and stops. While several industries were established during the tenures of various leaders, many faced abrupt halts due to political reasons. Notably, the land acquired for the Indian Farmers Fertilisers Corporation (IFFCO) in 1995 was left unused, and subsequent attempts to revive the project during late YS Rajashekar Reddy's regime also fell through.
Now, with renewed focus and political will, Nellore is poised for an industrial renaissance. The current administration's efforts to establish an airport and MIDHANI further emphasize their commitment to this cause. As District Collector Himanshu Shukla stated, the district's transformation will bring not only jobs but also much-needed infrastructure development, ensuring a brighter future for Nellore's residents and the region's economic prospects.
