Hyderabad Police Bust Major Drug Syndicate

In a significant operation, Hyderabad's Task Force police have dealt a heavy blow to drug trafficking, seizing a massive 908 kilograms of marijuana worth a staggering 2.7 crores in the Bandlaguda area. This successful interception highlights the growing importance of Hyderabad as a transit hub for narcotics, a concerning development for law enforcement and the community.

The operation, led by the Commissioners Task Force South-East Zone, was a well-coordinated effort with Bandlaguda police. They acted on a tip, intercepting the illegal consignment at a function hall, where it was cleverly concealed under cashew shells within HDPE bags, ready for transport to Maharashtra. The police arrested three individuals, all childhood friends with a history in PDS rice smuggling, now entangled in the lucrative narcotics trade.

The syndicate's operation was extensive, sourcing marijuana from the dense forests of Odisha and targeting urban markets in Maharashtra. The accused were paid a substantial amount of 35 lakh per trip, while their handler, Rahman, the elder brother of one of the arrested, remains at large. The police's swift action prevented the shipment from reaching its destination, seizing the drugs, an Eicher transport vehicle, mobile phones, and cash.

Deputy Commissioner of Police S. Chaitanya Kumar commended the team's efforts, emphasizing their commitment to disrupting drug cartels. The operation underscores the need for heightened vigilance and supply chain monitoring to counter the evolving tactics of drug syndicates. With the main culprits still at large, the police continue their pursuit, determined to bring the entire syndicate to justice and safeguard the city from the scourge of illegal narcotics.
