Hyderabad Road Closure: Navigating the Nine-Month Detour

Hyderabad's bustling roads are set for a significant transformation with the construction of an elevated corridor, but not without a lengthy detour for commuters. The Hyderabad Traffic Police have announced a major road closure, a nine-month-long detour, to facilitate this ambitious infrastructure project. From October 30th, the stretch between Rajiv Gandhi Statue Junction and Balamrai will become a no-go zone for vehicles, impacting travel across the city.

This closure is a necessary step in the construction of the elevated corridor on National Highway 44, connecting Paradise Junction and Dairy Farm Road. The Joint Commissioner of Police (Traffic), D. Joel Davis, has urged motorists to brace for this extended period of disruption. The advisory recommends planning ahead and exploring alternate routes to minimize congestion.

To navigate this maze of diversions, commuters have a set of suggested routes. Those traveling from Balanagar to Panjagutta or Tank Bund are advised to take a detour via Mastan Cafe, Diamond Point, and NCC. Similarly, the route from Suchitra to these destinations involves a circuitous path through Bapuji Nagar, Centre Point, and then joining the NCC route. The CTO Junction, a crucial intersection, will also witness changes, with vehicles from Tank Bund, Ranigunj, and surrounding areas being redirected through Anna Nagar and Balamrai.

The Balamrai-CTO stretch is expected to bear the brunt of increased traffic, and the police have appealed to commuters to cooperate and follow the suggested diversions. With a dedicated Traffic Helpline and real-time updates on social media, the Hyderabad Traffic Police aim to guide citizens through this challenging period. As the city prepares for this extended road closure, the focus shifts to efficient traffic management and ensuring a smooth journey for commuters.
