In a significant crackdown on illegal substances, the Telangana Excise and Prohibition Department's State Task Force (STF) conducted a series of raids across Hyderabad, leading to multiple arrests and a substantial seizure of ganja. The operation, which took place on Wednesday, highlights the ongoing efforts to combat the illicit drug trade in the region.
The STF's A-Team initiated the operation by apprehending Mohammed Kazha in Maruti Nagar, a locality near Langar Houz. This arrest yielded a substantial 1.4 kilograms of ganja, with the authorities also registering a case against the alleged supplier, Sheikh Habib, who is currently at large. The raid underscores the authorities' focus on disrupting the supply chain and targeting key players in the drug trade.
In a separate incident, Kundan Kumar Jha was taken into custody in Ameerpet, a bustling urban area. Jha was allegedly selling ganja, and the officers confiscated 521 grams of the substance. This arrest further emphasizes the widespread nature of the drug distribution network within the city. Simultaneously, the STF-B team's efforts led to the detention of Ravi Teja and Satish Goud in Karkhana, known for its industrial hub. The duo was allegedly selling ganja packets, with 35 packets seized, reportedly sourced from Bidar. The main supplier, Praveen, remains absconding, adding another layer to the complex network of drug trafficking.
The operation's success is evident in the substantial amount of ganja seized and the arrests made. With the contraband and accused now in the custody of the respective excise stations, the investigation will continue to unravel the full extent of this illegal trade, ensuring that Hyderabad's streets are safer and free from the scourge of illicit substances.
