Telangana's political landscape is witnessing fresh turbulence after Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) MLA Kotha Prabhakar Reddy made explosive statements suggesting that the party is under pressure to reclaim power—even if it means purchasing Congress MLAs. His remarks have triggered sharp criticism and intensified tensions between BRS and the ruling Congress party.
Speaking to the media, Prabhakar Reddy claimed that discontent is rising among citizens and industrialists under the Congress-led Indiramma government. He alleged that many stakeholders, particularly from the business community, are unhappy with the current administration and wish to see former Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao (KCR) back at the helm. In a sensational claim, he added that some industrialists are even willing to fund efforts to "buy" Congress MLAs to bring BRS back to power.
The comments have sparked a political firestorm. Congress leaders quickly hit back, highlighting KCR’s earlier predictions that the Revanth Reddy-led government would collapse soon. They accused the BRS leadership of plotting a political coup out of desperation and fear.
State Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy launched a scathing attack, alleging that the BRS is using Prabhakar Reddy as a mouthpiece because its leadership cannot accept the Congress government’s growing popularity and success. He said such statements reveal the frustration within the BRS, as the state government intensifies its crackdown on the alleged corruption and illegal wealth amassed by former BRS leaders.
The Congress minister affirmed that the current government is firmly rooted in public support and cannot be overthrown through backdoor tactics. He accused the BRS of trying to destabilize a democratically elected administration instead of accepting the people’s verdict.
With elections still far off, these developments have reignited political rivalry in Telangana, possibly setting the tone for more aggressive confrontations in the coming months.
