In a significant operation, Punjab Police have dealt a substantial blow to the illicit drug trade, seizing a staggering 7.8 kilograms of heroin and arresting three individuals in Ferozepur. The operation's primary target, Gurpreet Singh, alias Gora, was apprehended with 5 kilograms of heroin in his possession. The arrest took place in Habib Wala village, Ferozepur, where police also confiscated his motorcycle. Gurpreet, a key player in the cross-border drug network, was allegedly transporting the consignment to a local smuggler under the direction of a Pakistan-based counterpart. Assistant Inspector General Gursewak Singh Brar emphasized the operation's success, stating that it was based on reliable intelligence, which led to a well-coordinated secret operation.

The crackdown continued with the arrest of two more individuals, Jaswinder Singh and Arshdeep Singh, in the Guru Har Sahai subdivision. The police seized 2.8 kilograms of heroin and various vehicles and communication devices from them. This second case further underscores the pervasive nature of the drug trade in the region.

Director General of Police Gaurav Yadav assured the public that investigations are ongoing to unravel the entire drug network. The police are working to trace the supply chain and identify all involved, from local distributors to international suppliers.
