Jagan’s Political Forecast: Predicts Chandrababu's Fall Below Single Digits in 2029 Elections

After a stunning defeat in the 2024 Andhra Pradesh General Elections, former Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy appears to be more focused on charting a political comeback rather than introspecting the reasons behind his party’s downfall. In a bold statement that has sparked debate across political circles, Jagan shared what he termed his “Jyothishyam” (astrological prediction), targeting his long-time rival and current CM, N. Chandrababu Naidu.

Jagan predicted that if Chandrababu continues what he called “oppressive governance,” the public and divine forces would intervene. “When a politician gains power, he must act with dignity and political conscience. If Chandrababu misuses power to suppress his opponents, he won’t even win single-digit seats in the next election,” he declared during a public interaction.

This statement has drawn mixed reactions. Supporters hailed Jagan’s confidence and vision for 2029, viewing it as a sign of resilience. However, critics were quick to call it ironic. Neutral observers pointed out that Jagan’s own tenure from 2019 to 2024 ended with just 11 assembly seats, implying that by his own logic, he may have failed to provide good governance.

Interestingly, this political back-and-forth comes at a time when Chandrababu Naidu is riding high on his alliance’s massive victory. The TDP-Jana Sena-BJP coalition secured a sweeping majority in the state, with Naidu returning to power with renewed strength. His government has already initiated several welfare schemes and is focusing on rebuilding Amaravati as the capital.

Meanwhile, Jagan is said to be realigning his strategy. He has begun holding district-level reviews and is focusing on regaining public trust, particularly among the rural voter base that once stood solidly behind him.

While 2029 is still a long way off, Jagan’s Jyothishyam has certainly reignited political discourse in Andhra Pradesh, setting the stage for an intense rivalry that promises to shape the state’s political future.
