In a significant step towards empowering victims of violence and distress, Telangana's Director-General of Police, B. Shivadhar Reddy, announced the expansion of Bharosa Centres across the state. These centres, designed as one-stop crisis support systems, will soon be a beacon of hope in every district, offering a comprehensive range of services under one roof.
The recent inauguration of the Bharosa Centre in Shamshabad, under the Cyberabad Police Commissionerate, marks a milestone in this initiative. This facility, the third of its kind in Cyberabad, will cater to 17 police station limits, ensuring that women and children in the area have access to justice, protection, and emotional support. The centre boasts a dedicated team of eight trained professionals, including legal and medical experts, counsellors, and administrative staff, all committed to providing holistic care.
The Bharosa initiative, launched in 2016, has already established 33 centres across Telangana, covering both urban and rural areas. These centres are a testament to the state's commitment to victim-centric policing, recognized nationally as a best practice. By offering integrated assistance, including legal, medical, and psychological support, Bharosa Centres ensure that victims are not alone in their journey from complaint to compensation.
As the state gears up to bring this vital service to every district, the impact of these centres on the lives of vulnerable women and children cannot be overstated. With the collective effort of various departments and the dedication of trained personnel, Telangana is setting a powerful example of modern, compassionate policing, where the focus is on healing and justice for those who need it most.
