In a proud moment for India's security forces, the nation recognizes the valour and dedication of its bravehearts with the prestigious Kendriya Grihmantri Dakshata Padaka (KGDP) awards. This year, the list of awardees includes a remarkable 1,466 personnel, a testament to the tireless efforts of India's law enforcement agencies in maintaining peace and security.

The spotlight is on the heroes of Operation Mahadev, a joint mission that brought together the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) and Jammu & Kashmir (J&K) police. On July 28, these forces, alongside Army para commandos, neutralized three Pakistani terrorists responsible for the brutal Pahalgam attack on April 22, which claimed the lives of 26 civilians. The operation's success is reflected in the 41 KGDP medals awarded, with 22 going to CRPF personnel and 19 to their J&K police counterparts. Among the honoured J&K police officers are IGP Vidhi Kumar Birdi and several SSP and SP-level officers.

The KGDP awards also acknowledge the largest-ever anti-Naxal operation, Operation Black Forest, which took place from April 21 to May 11, 2025, in the Karregutalu Hills on the Chhattisgarh-Telangana border. This operation's impact is evident in the 1,001 CRPF personnel recognized for their role in eliminating 31 Maoists and dismantling their hideouts. Additionally, 221 Chhattisgarh Police officers, led by Addl DG Vivekanand and Bastar IG Sundarraj P, have been honoured for their anti-Naxal operations, which led to the death of CPI(Maoist) general secretary Basavaraj.

The awards highlight the coordinated efforts of various security agencies in tackling diverse threats across the country, from international drug syndicates to jihadi networks and Maoist insurgencies. This recognition not only honours the brave individuals but also underscores the nation's commitment to maintaining law and order and protecting its citizens.
