In a significant operation, Telangana's EAGLE Force, in collaboration with city police, has cracked down on Hyderabad's drug scene, arresting five individuals and exposing two interconnected drug networks. This bust highlights the growing presence of illegal substances in the city's social circles.
The first strike occurred on October 30 at the Bollaram check post, where officers intercepted Shubham Kumar Singh and Rithik Shiva Nandam Kurup, both in their 20s. These individuals, described as consumers-turned-dealers, were allegedly preparing to supply drugs to local customers. A thorough search revealed a substantial stash of narcotics, including MDMA, cocaine, LSD, and ganja, along with cash and mobile phones. The source of these drugs is believed to be a supplier named Nandu, based in Bengaluru but originally from Kerala.
The following night, the operation shifted to a popular pub in Jubilee Hills. Surprise checks at The Moonshine Project/EXT Pub led to the detention of three individuals who tested positive for various substances, including opioids, methamphetamine, and THC. This raid underscores the prevalence of drug use in entertainment venues.
"We are committed to eradicating the drug menace from our city," said a senior police official. "These operations are a step towards ensuring Hyderabad remains a safe and healthy environment for its residents." The busts serve as a stark reminder of the pervasive nature of the drug trade, infiltrating various social strata and age groups. With the authorities' continued vigilance and public cooperation, the fight against this illicit trade gains momentum, promising a safer future for the community.
